You may not realize it, but every time you visit a website or blog, read an e-book or even engage in social media, you are likely being exposed to article marketing. This form of online product/service promotion is rapidly becoming the best way to increase online visibility for businesses. If you would like to get on the bandwagon, there are a few things you should know in order to make article marketing work for you.
Article Marketing Basics- How to Write for Success
If you want to take advantage of all that article marketing can do for your business, there are 5 simple tips to keep in mind:
1. Research your Keywords- Do you know what your potential customers are typing in to the search engines in order to find you? Don't guess- know! There are many tools you can use to find out which keywords will be most effective in leading traffic to your site. Google AdWords and WordTracker are two popular keyword search tools that help you find the most relevant keywords for your site. Remember, without good keywords, the best articles in the world won't bring people to your door.
2. Develop a Good Title- Titles draw readers in. Considering the fact that most people spend less than 10 seconds on a site that does not grab their attention, a good title can be the difference between a quick glance and a leisurely perusal. Put your keyword first in the title, then a short description of the topic (example: Article Marketing- Make it Work for You). This kind of title also makes it easier for the search engines to find you.
3. Provide Good Content- Good content is not only well-written, it is informative. People don't want fluff- it not only doesn't help them, it's annoying. If your article provides them with solid information about the topic, then you will start to gain their trust and allow them to see you as an authority on your subject. Answer their questions, solve their problems. They will love you for it.
4. Keep it Short- Consumers generally get more out of brief, concise articles that pack a lot of information into a nice tight little bundle. Avoid wordiness and stick to the point. Try something catchy. This is a difficult concept for many writers, as most people were taught to write essay-style pieces containing formal elements. Consider the following example: "Article marketing is a type of advertising in which businesses write short articles related to their respective industry". It's okay, but does it grab your attention? Try this instead: "Article marketing DOES work and I'm living proof! Listen up!"
5. Use Resource Boxes- Your article marketing is only as effective as the links you provide with them. If your visitors can't get to your site, then your relevant keywords, awesome titles and mind-blowing content are pretty much useless. Provide links to your site and/or blogs using a resource box. This section should contain a brief description of you and your business and at least one link with anchor text.
